The Next Episode? Snoop Dogg Dropped a Video That Is Set In The Metaverse
For the past two years, the world has been getting used to the idea that NFTs and Web 3.0 offers a new way for artists to make a living. But some people are more easily adaptable than others; Apparently, one of the early adopters of Web 3.0 and Nfts is no other than the famous rapper Snoop Doggy Dogg. Snoop, who has a track record of making good investments behind him (Invested in Reddit in 2014), revealed last year that he had collected over 17 million dollars worth of NFTs under the pseudonym Cozomo de’ Medici.
Apparently that was just the beginning of Snoops’ relationship with the crypto world. Recently, Snoop launched an NFT collection named “The stash Box” on Opensea. What is unique about this particular collection is that every “Box” is a music track from his latest album, B.O.D.R. The collection is limited to 25,000 boxes and sold for over 44 million dollars in less than a week. Holders of the boxes are eligible for exclusive airdrops, such as films, comics, images, and even unique concert attendance opportunities. The album itself was released under the mythological record company, “Death Row Records,” that Snoop had recently bought, and stated that it would be “An NFT Label” (B.O.D.R. releases’ under Death Row was made 26 years after “Tha Doggfather” his previous album in the label)
But Snoop Dogg is looking for much more than “just” selling NFTs on Opensea. Snoop is set to build his own universe: Last year, Snoop started selling early access to his “SnoopVerse,” a virtual real estate in The Sandbox metaverse. People can currently buy virtual land in The Sandbox and supposedly live next to Snoops’ virtual crib. Snoop has also launched a collection of 10,000 Snoop-Avatars, that users can play within the sandbox. And now, to promote his collaboration with The Sandbox, Snoop released a historic rap video that is set entirely in The Sandbox. The song, titled “House I Built” (from his album B.O.D.R.), features all of the swag that you can expect from a rap video, just in the pixelated style of The Sandbox.
