Our story begins with a young student who has enrolled in an ivy league university. He anticipated college life much, but he felt very alone when school started. To his amusement, he created a new social platform designed to be used only for the students in his school. Following the platform’s success, students from other universities also wanted to use it, and the hype got bigger every day.
You might think we are talking about Mark Zuckerberg, who invented Facebook while attending Harvard. However, we are talking about Teddy Solomon, who created Fizz while attending Stanford: Fizz is a new social platform growing in serious numbers across schools in the US. They plan to be in over a thousand new schools by next year. What is the hype all about?
Teddy Solomon started economic studies at Stanford in 2020. Sadly for him (and everybody else), that’s when Covid started hitting the fan, and everybody was expected to keep social distance. Solomon stated that he felt alone and lacked college social experience, so he created Fizz with his partner, Ashton Cofer, which allowed some level of the school experience.
Fizz’s success stems from two significant advantages. First, it gives a genuine school experience since all users must have an official student email address belonging to a school in which Fizz is available. Second, Fizz is operating a tight monitoring policy that quickly removes all hate or false posts, which gives users a truly clean and authentic browsing experience.
It is worth noting that the fact that Fizz is on the rise doesn’t guarantee that it will succeed. Fizz could be just another Yik-Yak that flew too close to the sun. Furthermore, a long time ago, Facebook was also a fun and cool place until it got the right growth numbers and started harvesting data, selling it, and pumping us with ads and content we don’t care for. However, if Fizz will become a cool and fun success story, remember where you first heard about it.
