Art Basel 2022: More Glamorous, More Powerful

Last week, I was to Art Basel 2022 in Miami beach. For those unfamiliar with Art Basel, you should know it is an international art fair organized by an organization named “Art Basel 2022.” It started in Basel (surprisingly) in 1970 and, in the last two decades, held additional affairs in several cities worldwide, including Miami beach. This year the event brought in some major names, including Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Rihanna, Asap rocky, MGK, and more.

Art Basel famously supports digital art and NFTs, which naturally brought me to the exhibition. However, due to the bear market we are currently in, this year looked very different from last year’s show: last year, we saw many projects pouring vast amounts of money into their exhibitions. This year, we’ve seen much fewer projects, only the strong ones that persevered.Β

Art Basel 2022's Main Events

One of the more successful and talked about events at the fair was the DeadFellaz events, which involved a really cool party, playing experiences, bowling, and ice skating, all with hundreds of project NFT holders and some leading web 3.0 personas.Β

The website NFTnow, in collaboration with Mana Common, created a sensual experience named “The Gateway,” in which visitors could experience digital art and feel while traveling through huge 3d exhibits (They have closed an entire street in Miami beach for this). The World Of Women project organized a fancy gala with beautiful guests looking their best.Β

Gary Vaynerchuk held several events around his Gary Vee project and gave selfies to everyone there. And, of course, my favorite Doodles project built an appealing attraction center with their famous Doodle characters, a miniature golf course, and other cool games and attractions.Β Β

As for me, I was invited to a private dinner party with the mayor of Miami, along with other prominent investors, artists, and more web 3.0 key figures. At the party, Keith Grossman, Time magazine’s current CEO, who built Time’s web 3.0 department, gave a speech to all the guests. He is currently preparing these days to be the CEO of Moonpay, a fintech crypto company. This means he is a true Web 3.0 maximalist and believes in the vision of the new web.Β

There were, of course, many, many other cool things that happened that I can’t specify, but the bottom line is this: Web 3.0 and blockchain are going to change the world. Every time I go to such an event, I am always amazed by how many excellent and talented people are building this vision, and I am confident in their success.
