5 Reasons to Use Twitter to Market your Business
Twitter has 192 million active daily users, and you can be sure your past and future customers are among them. If you haven’t yet considered jumping on the Twitter bandwagon, I’m going to give you 5 reasons to use Twitter to market your business.
Are you ready?
1. Twitter Gives Your Brand a Personality
People buy from people, not businesses, and Twitter gives your business a way to connect as a human.
People indulge in their passions on this platform. So, whether it’s sports, arts, politics, entertainment, or causes such as breast cancer and the environment, there’s a #hashtag for it and a lively conversation around it. As a result, searching for common ground is easy to do.
These #hashtags give you the opportunity to tweet about something near and dear to your follower’s hearts and connect with them on a personal level.
Businesses often struggle to find ways to show their human side on social media. But you’ll find those types of posts come naturally here.
2. Tweets Drive Traffic
Tweets are an easy way to build curiosity, create a sense of urgency, or get your followers in a FOMO frenzy.
Don’t let the 280 character limit cause you to panic. You can use this tiny but mighty space to tweet a teaser for whatever you want. Then, follow it with a link to your sales landing page, podcast episode, YouTube channel, sales video, or website.
Keep your followers coming back for more by constantly using this strategy.
3. Engagement is More Authentic
There’s a place for the planned tweets on your monthly content calendar, to be sure. But that’s not all you should be doing.
One of Twitter’s many delights is the #Explore feature. Use it to follow trends and #hashtags, and watch as doors to spontaneous conversations fly open.
Leave room for these gems. Because these conversations happen in the moment, your engagement is more off-the-cuff and more natural.
As a result, your followers will hear a voice that aligns with your brand but also sounds like a real person.
4. It’s a Useful Customer Service Tool
Twitter is a fantastic way to provide excellent customer service. Customers use the platform to provide feedback and ask for help.
Build brand equity by being responsive. Answer their questions, give links to tutorials, and tweet the answers to your FAQs. Improve their customer experience. Create polls and put up surveys and use their feedback to improve their customer experience.
Keep in mind 77% of Twitter users express an improved impression of a brand when they respond to a tweet. As a result, some companies have a dedicated account for customer support.
5. Twitter Helps You Reach New Audiences
One of the fastest ways to reach new audiences is to engage on Twitter. But you can’t just like or retweet.
Your engagement has to be meaningful. Meaning, you need to add something of value. For example, add your impressions or insights, tell your followers why you like it, why it’s funny, or why/how this information will benefit them.
Retweet the tweets of influencers, current or past customers, and business partners and associates. And make sure to @mention them in your original tweets. This invites them to do the same and gets you in front of their followers and their follower’s followers.
Ready to Take Flight?
If the recent hiccup with Facebook and Instagram taught us anything, it’s don’t keep all your eggs in one basket. While Facebook and Instagram are popular social media platforms, they’re certainly not the only ones.
Twitter’s unique features make it a worthy contender in the business marketing arena. There are plenty of opportunities to let the human side of your business shine without sounding like you’re selling your products or services.
Keep your options open by keeping an open mind to platforms like Twitter and take your vulnerability down a notch.
